    Call for Paper

    Computer vision technology is playing an increasingly important role in Spatial User Interaction. In this workshop, we aim to gather relevant researchers to discuss recent progress in how computer vision could be applied to spatial user interaction, and also to summarize potential directions for future research.

    We invite submissions of abstracts, research papers and position papers: 2-10 pages in SUI conference paper format. We welcome contributions related (but not limited) to the following aspects:

    * Novel methods for Vision-based Intelligent Human-Object Interaction

    Intelligent human-object interaction (HOI) relies on the identification of human and object interaction. For example, in the field of automatic driving, the model needs to analyze the relationship between humans and objects in the scene (such as people getting on and off the car). Identifying these scenes can not only help the automatic driving system to judge the state of humans and objects in the current environment but also help the system to predict the upcoming situation. Vision based HOI detection can help computers understand more complex human activities and obtain more in-depth scene semantic knowledge that can be applied to various scenes in daily life. Nowadays, with the increasing maturity of information technology, different artificial intelligence products have penetrated our daily life, and the application of HOI detection is also pervasive, such as in the field of autonomous driving mentioned above. However, today's HOI detection is not as mature as object detection, and still has a lot of room for improvement, especially in spatial user interaction. This workshop aims to bring more people to discuss and explore HOI detection questions.

    * Novel eye control methods for Spatial User Interaction

    The advances in spatial user interaction call for novel methods to achieve better user experience. For example, eye control with gaze estimation is a viable method for spatial user interaction, especially when traditional mouse and finger operations are not adequate for interaction requirements. While the application of eye control has been extensively studied in the HCI field, the potential of eye control with gaze estimation for spatial user interaction is still unexplored. In this workshop, we will discuss novel methods (such as eye control with gaze estimation) in spatial user interaction in terms of their pros and cons.

    * Computer Vision-based VR/AR Interaction

    Computer vision drives innovation with new customer experiences, and new ways of interacting with AR/VR. A typical application is using computer vision to provide optimal route recommendation with AR glasses. The question of how computer vision can empower VR/AR interaction has attracted much attention recently. Computer vision based human-object interaction (HOI) and eye control with gaze estimation (ECGE) would be promising technology to develop the new generation VR/AR interface. This workshop will look at this question and cover the important topics in computer vision-based VR/AR interaction, such as HOI and ECGE.

    Prof. Dong Liangis an Associate Professor with the College of Computer Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and MIIT Key Laboratory of Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. His research interests include machine learning and pattern recognition, intelligent interaction systems, and computational imaging systems. He has published several research papers, including Pattern Recognition, IEEE TIP/TMM/TNNLS/TGRS/TCSVT, AAAI and IJCAI. He served as a co-chair of the Organizing Committee of the 2021 China Symposium on Machine Learning and Applications (MLA'21). He serves as an Associate Editor of The Visual Computer (Springer) (2023-).

    Prof. Haibo Ye received Ph.D. at the Department of Computer Science and Technology,Nanjing University, China, in 2016. He is currently an Associate Professor with the College of Computer Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. His research interests include machine learning and pervasive computing, activity recognition, and mobile computing systems. He has published multiple papers in top international conferences and journals such as ACM TIOS, IEEE TMC, AAAI, ICASSP, PERCOM, and so on. He has served as a reviewer for numerous international academic journals and conferences.

    Prof. Rong Quan received her Ph.D and B.S. degree from the School of Automation, Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. She is now an associate professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Her research interests include human visual attention mechanism, human eye fixations detection, eye-based human computer interaction. She has published multiple papers in top international conferences and journals such as CVPR, IEEE TIP, IEEE TMM, and so on.

    Prof. Xinyue Zhao received her M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University, China in 2008, and received her Ph. D. degree in 2012 from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Hokkaido University, Japan. She is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering, Zhejiang University, and affiliated with State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power and Mechatronic Systems. Her research interests include machine vision, 3D measurement, and pattern recognition, in which areas she has published over forty papers, as the first or corresponding author, in prestigious journals including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, Pattern Recognition etc. She is the TC Member of IEEE Consumer Technology Society (WNT), and belongs to the Topical Advisory Panel Member of Sensors (2022-now). She also serves as the guest editor of Sensors (2023), and Applied Science (2022).
